2006 Rant Archive

Hi! We're finally back again. I woke up from my Winter hibernation, which Snarky says took a lot of cold water and screaming (must have been having a hot dream). I'm awake now, so here it is... before I went to sleep I went to a BKAT meeting. It was about the BKAT awards, and since I'm on the Board of Advisors (or something rather), I proposed that Snarky host the next BKAT Awards Ceremony (on May 4, 2007 - mark your calendars!). It's not etched in stone yet. Negotiations are still ongoing, with some opposition from
Snarky. We'll keep you posted, but we should know for sure after the January meeting. No showings are planned yet, but I'll get off my rear and get on that. I blame the 5-minute power outage at my house last week.

Whew, this certainly has been one crazy year. Well, I'm just here to tell you today that we have showings of
Attack Of The Evil Dolls and
Katie's Day Off scheduled for this week.
- Tuesday, October 31, 10pm
- Friday, November 3, 10pm
- Saturday, November 4, midnight (technically the 5th, but meh)
Plus, as a fun treat, here's some special
Snarky Fan Art, courtesy of... me! Specifically designed as a Birthday Card, use it to scare the chick of your dreams. Who can resist the Snarkmeister!?

I've been on a vacation to Nowhereland for the past month. I've pretty much just been taking it easy for a while, but I'm somewhat back in gear now. More stuff to come on the website, including a
movie review from Snarky.
Since some have asked (and I'm sure everyone wants to know), status for Snarky's Funhouse:
- Script/castings complete (has been for a while now)
- Intro scenes complete
- Titles complete
- Flashback scene pretty much done (with surprise!)
- Working on main scenes
Basically this just means that there's real substance now. Anyway, we're going to be designing a new DTF logo real soon, but if you have any ideas, let us know! Once we get that we can do some kick-ass t-shirt designs, but we need a good artist. More website tweaks also coming soon, but the webchick has been a bit out of it lately. Tell her to get some sleep!

After much annoyance and waiting, we finally got our website switched to a
new host! Woo hoo! We lost a few of the last updates, but those were mainly just FYI's letting you know we were switching over. Ah well. With this new host we now have unlimited bandwidth, which means I'll be able to start putting my movies up for your viewing pleasure! I have the first movie ready to go, so it'll be up here some time soon. More news to come later from Johnny, but at 5:30 in the morning, some people just don't want to think...

Buahahahahaha... Suck on
THIS, spammers! (Guestbook entries now have to be pre-approved until we get a new host. Don't worry, I obsess over this site all day without getting paid, so it'll show up quick... *grumble* #!@$& charity work. =D).

Spring is here at last, and it may seem like we're doing absolutely nothing. Well, folks..... you're right! Well, at least partly. We took a short spring siesta to regenerate, but I
have been researching digital effects with some of me geeky friends at OC. These guys rock, and they know so much cool stuff (they have feelings, too!). Snarky's Funhouse is still coming along fine - I'm working on the set in my basement right now. We'll also have a showing on BKAT soon, probably just some old random stuff. Little Bob and Snarky are having a little
feud about who is the star of the show. Oh yeah, and since the webmaster keeps harassing me, I'll put up some videos for download soon.

(2 hours later...)
Bah, I give up. I have noooooo clue in the world how the spammers submit their spam, but it certainly isn't through the guestbook itself. I'm entertaining the idea (heavily) of switching hosts, because this one just isn't giving us much to work with (50megs). If anyone knows of a good one, spam it in the guestbook! =D

I broke off from all my fun and enjoyable homework to goof off a bit more with the guestbook. This time we have a pretty little word filter that'll block certain thinigs that the spammers like to spam. Alas, I don't know if it'll actually work 100%, but it's worth a shot, eh?
In the mean while, Johnny has something coming for ya'll, so you'll hear from him in a day or two.

Made just a little change to Snarky's World so you can see more of the picture. Also, we would like to put up some music on the SW website, so for all you aspiring artists out there, send us a song or two! Anything that fits in with the goth/metal scene would work. Otherwise, we'll just have to make our own music, which I don't think will turn out very well...

Hurray! After a very, very long wait, we finally received the new background picture for
Snarky's World! Check it out when you have a second (like, right now!!!), I think it's really cool, so let us know what you think of it in the guestbook (if you care, of course).

We have another show in the experimental stages, a mystery-science-theaterish type program in which a Snarky-like character who works for DTF will critique Johnny's older films as they play on the screen. We're not sure yet how we're going to present it, but we have plenty of ideas in the works.
We're also tossing around an idea for a new Dreamtown Films comic strip. While this is in the works, if anyone wants to submit a comic strip that they think would be cool, gothic, and cheesy (you know, like DTF), let us know! We'd love to present your fanwork on our site, so contact us via the Contact form on the left. Nothing too offensive, please, but we're pretty danged open.
Since we haven't talked about the DTF Basketball Team, I might as well tell you the bad news. We lost our second game of the season, with a disappointing 70-63 (or something like that) to Costco Express. This is a church league, but those guys were mean! They certainly pounded the heck out of us that day (like the way they treat their merchandise! Ouch!). It wasn't really that bad of a game, but we've beaten them before. Now we're 3-2 in the Sylvan Way Church League, so hopefully we'll make the playoffs (I pray!).
Last off, Snarky has made a couple of updates.

p.s. Happy Belated Valentine's Day!

Alright, we have a new anti-spam experiment on the guestbook page. I don't think it'll get rid of them all, but at least a few, and I'll be happy. I've also set up another one in the background that may work, but we have to wait a few days. Remember, this is all still an experiment in progress. =) More news from Johnny coming soon. Wish us luck!

I went to Seattle (Burien) over the weekend to visit Max, and I'm happy to announce that he gave me the finished scene for Snarky's Funhouse! In case you don't remember, he was working to put in some nice special effects for me. It looks awesome and is the first use of digital effects for any of my movies, ever. Just for a teaser, the main effects will be shown in one of the earlier scenes during Snarky's flashbacks to his newest arch enemy (oooh, scaaaaary!). In the end that means the movie is back on track - YAY! I'm going to edit tonight and start putting the opening scenes together (yay again!).
Note from the webchick: We're having some issues with our Guestbook and spam (go figure). I'm looking into using Javascript for verification (I ask an easy question, you type the answer). I'm going to keep looking, but if you know anything about this, please let us know via the contact form. =) Thanks in advance!

Wednesday, January 18, 2006 (yay!)
Wow, it's a new year already! Time has flown by fast this year, even though it doesn't feel like much has gotten done. We've worked on Snarky's Funhouse, the Dreamtown Films Basketball team, the new website, aaaand... well, basically nothing else.... BUT this is a new year, and we have a lot of great ideas. These include some future DTF projects. The main thing, of course, is Snarky's Funhouse, which is still in the filming stages. We've been working a lot on special effects, and so far it's looking good. I'm starting to get a little more excited about the project, so you'll definitely be hearing plenty about it over the next few months.
2006 Resolutions:
- Finish Snarky's Funhouse (we hope)
- Make more skits using puppets or paper dolls (fun!)
- Buy more goth dolls (collection, you know)
- Win Basketball Sylvan Way Church League
- Quit heroin... wait, no no no, wait..... (just kidding guys, really...)
I'm definitely not aiming high this year, so hopefully we'll see plenty more than that. =) Ah, btw, I got a name change, in case you haven't noticed. This is Captain Skyhawk, signing off......
